Adventure Awaits

Going hiking today.

The park is called Enchanted Rock.

And you essentially climb this huge granite rock.

It's only about a mile or so up of a hike, so believe me, it isn't strenuous.

But a good workout any way you look at it.

We are taking the dogs.

My friend has a great dane that is the size of her.

So she can just have him pull her up the rock.

My dog will have to struggle pulling me up.

But hey, I said this was a workout of sorts.

Thanks so much for all of your sweet comments yesterday.

You guys are awesome!

I will be making my way to each of your wonderful blogs soon.

Definitely another adventure I look forward to.  :)

Until then...

Enjoy your Friday!

Ramblings, Sunshine and a Reveal

Just having fun sky watching.

I swear this bird liked having his photo taken.

He kept circling back for more.

Or maybe he thought I was about to be roadkill or something....

(I believe he was a vulture)

When I was little I would play in my grandparents pool almost everyday in the summertime.

Well these vultures like to swoop down really low sometimes.

I remember always freaking out when they'd get too close to the pool.

I'm not sure who told me this,

but someone would taunt us (my younger siblings too)

and say those vultures will pick you up and carry you away.

Complex much?

Well, I think I'm too big to be carried away now, so I'll take my chances.

In other news...

Do any of you remember the post quite a while back...

 (sorry for that)

about some projects I was working on?

Well I finished one!!

Let me set the scene.

It was cloudy most of the day.

A few small showers.

I skipped yoga to cuddle in bed with the pup.

Then about 4 PM the sun started to peak out from the clouds.

And my bedroom was washed in a beautiful soft light that was so appealing to me.

So pair the happy sunshine with a little cold iced tea

and I'm inspired to tackle a project!

{Disclaimer:  I can't sew, nor do I even pretend to know how... }

Please forgive me all you crafty divas out there.

I am not among the elite.

I had a sad, uncovered boring, white ottoman that has been begging me for a slipcover...

for at least three years now.

So I grabbed MY slipcover essentials:

scissors
fabric glue
left over burlap & ruffled trim from the Christmas tree skirt
jute twine

I'm not a perfectionist when it comes to slipcovers.

I like them sloppy.

And just started cutting and gluing.

And look what happened!

My ottoman was happy the sunshine came out too!

See that cute pillow too?

That is one of the pillows that I posted about yesterday.

Oh how I love it so.

Go to Harper and Henny and get a super fabulous pillow of your own.

I'm happy with the results.

Sure it was glued together... but I didn't spend any money.

Which = happy husband.

Happy husband + happy ottoman = Happy Me!  :)

Happy Thursday!!

Life Details

Since I've started the 365 project, I've really grown to appreciate my surroundings even more.

Having to come up with a new photo everyday...

(I have cheated occasionally and used an older photo... shhhh keep that between you and me... ;))

It really helps you notice the small things.

Like your reflection in the paned glass of the front door.

A single bloom that has fallen.

or

The fabulous texture of linen.

Maybe you've noticed sometimes when you have a vase of fresh flowers,

all the tiny bubbles that adorn the vase.

Finding these subtle details is like finding a little piece of magic.

Tucked away under everyday life occurrences.

Life can be so rushed it can be difficult to

stop and smell the roses.

They smell quite lovely,

do you remember?

Or have you forgotten because it's been so long?

I hope that for a moment you've been able to find that small detail that makes your life so beautiful.

Happy Tuesday!

Sugar And Sweet

I love taking pictures of nature.

Of objects that will sit still and won't judge you while preforming some crazy yoga bending-like move...

Just to get the perfect angle.

Now when it comes to getting people in a shot...

Now that's a whole different story.

I'm working at it.

But just not quite there yet.

So these shots, minus the one of the cupcakes and flowers.

Because you know I don't mind photographing anything with a cupcake...

Sorry I digress.

The other two images are wonderfully captured by my sister-in-law.

She is so awesome, she even set the timer on her camera and placed it on our trash can.

Just so we all could get in the picture.

So I just wanted to say, thank you Tracy.

Without you,

there would only be pictures of cupcakes and flowers to be remembered this Easter.

Hope everyone had a lovely day!

Slow Stroll

Lots of work getting done this week.

I had to remember to take some time to breathe.

We went for a walk this morning to enjoy the cool crisp air.

Birds were out singing.

I think they are just as happy with the weather as we are.

I still have tons to do before guests arrive tomorrow.

Just glad to find a few moments to take it easy.

Have a lovely Easter Weekend!!

Sweet Finds

Spring is making me chipper.

Normally I crave neutrals.

I dream in greys and whites.

But not lately.

I'm having colorful cravings!

Mmmm....

I just had a craving for M&Ms!

Don't worry, it will pass soon enough.

My heart will always be with neutrals.

(Although I will always heart M&Ms.)

SO if you are craving a little color in your life.
